Oh Hello..... Dooney and Bourke...

Dooney and Bourke purses are forever branded in my childhood memory...I always remember my mom toting that pebbled leather handbag around and me thinking those must be the best purses EVER (and probably the heaviest). I even remember getting a small black and maroon Dooney and Bourke shoulder bag for my birthday. I thought I was so cool....Which I wan NOT. (Curly/Frizzy Hair Pre-Chi and slightly chubby= not cool)

Now fast forward 18 years and the pebbled purses are back in style....having survived almost 2 decades tucked away in many hoarders closets have now become the "must have" accessory of many hipsters. These purses are indestructible, they remain in the same shape as if they were just freshly brought home from the store....give or take an ink stain. I am always pleased to find them on my vintage treasure hunts, I swipe them up every time...even sometimes grabbing the Chinese knock offs that have too survived with all there pleather glory.

I am still not sure why Dooney and Bourke stopped making these purses that they are still known for by a whole generation...I know they took the same route as Coach switching to a much cheaper "logo" print purse that I doubt will last as long as the older models. I was pleased however to see Dooney and Burke's new collection this season (2011) Alto bags..these blew me away.. Finally they are coming back to making purses and cheesy logo bags. So Welcome back Dooney and Burke! I have missed you!
